Senior Farmer’s Market

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally and state-funded program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency and by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA).  ODA provides additional state funds to support SFMNP operation within Ohio.

Anyone who is age 60 years of age or older at the time of application and has an annual household income of 185% of the Federal Poverty Level is eligible for the SFMNP (see income levels on the bottom of the application).

Applicants must live in one of our ten counties: Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton.

Eligible seniors receive ten $5 coupons that are valid to use from May to October with authorized farmers at Farmers' Markets, roadside stands and farm stands.

Applications should be mailed to the address shown on the top of the application. Coupons, along with additional information, will be mailed to eligible persons beginning in April.  Coupons can be used beginning May 1.

Those who have participated in the past will need to apply again for each growing season.

Farmers who are interested in participating in the SFMNP must be an individual who grows and sells authorized, local produce, herbs and/or honey at farmers’ markets, road side stands, or farm stands.  They must participate in one training for new farmers and must follow and comply with guidelines and responsibilities as set forth by the Ohio SFNMP.

Information for the 2023 season will be available in the Spring. For more information, call 1-800-582-7277 or e-mail farmersmarket@aaa7.org
