SENIOR CITIZENS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT EACH OTHER

Students in Paul Dovyak’s Social Work class at the University of Rio Grande have been meeting with some older adults to compare college life today with college life forty or more years ago. Dawn Walker (a senior citizen) said, "I am impressed with how polite the students are to us." Mary V. Lanier (a senior citizen) commented, "It appears college life hasn’t changed much from the time we attended college." The students and the older adults have been enjoying their weekly meetings over lunch and have found out they are very much alike. "I find it nice to know we have similarities and enjoy being together," said Brandi Adkins, student at URG. This project has formed new friendships between the two generations and both age groups found they have more in common with each other that either generation assumed.
