Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc and Shawnee State University Hosted a Health Screening at Hurth Apartments
The Area Agency on Aging District 7’s Service Coordination Department in conjunction with the Bachelor’s Degree Nursing Program at Shawnee State University, hosted a Health Screening at the Hurth Apartments in Portsmouth. The program consisted of blood pressure screening, nutritional and therapeutic diet counseling, and discussion on decreasing the risks of heart disease and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Many residents of the senior housing complex attended and spoke with Cheryl Collins, RN and Elizabeth Welch, RN the BSN student nurses conducting the screening. Melanie Young, Service Coordinator for the Area Agency on Aging District 7 assigned to the Hurth Apartments assisted in coordinating the event and was present to assist with the activities. The Area Agency on Aging, District 7 and the BSN Program at SSU recognize the importance of health maintenance and healthy lifestyle promotion for seniors and appreciated the opportunity to present this program to the residents of the Hurth Apartments.
