Vicki Abdella Named Community Services Director

Pamela K. Matura, Executive Director of
the Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc. (AAA7) is
pleased to announce the appointment of Vicky Abdella,
RN, to the new Community Services Department as
Community Services Director and a member of AAA7's
senior management team. The AAA7 Community Services
Department currently includes the following programs:
Care Coordination, National Family Caregiver Support,
Service Coordination, Electronic Resource Directory,
"Making A Link," Residential State Supplement Provider
Development, and Community Service Outreach Programs
serving participants in Adams, Brown, Gallia,
Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and
Vinton Counties.
Ms. Abdella has 22 years of nursing
experience as an educator and administrator with the
past 20 years spent in homecare. Her experience
includes working in hospitals, home health care
agencies, health departments and medical equipment
companies. She has worked with regulatory agencies at
the state and federal levels and has worked
cooperatively with community agencies throughout her
career. Ms. Abdella has experience with public
speaking at the local, state and national level.
Ms. Abdella holds an Associate Degree
in Nursing from Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio
and is a certified Train-the-Trainer to be a Program
Coordinator or Primary Instructor for Nurse Aide
Training and Competency Evaluation Program from
Columbus State Community College. She is a certified
Information and Referral Specialist for Aging and has
completed on-line coursework for Project CARES
(Caregiver Adaptations to Reduce Environmental Stress)
from the National Resource Center on Supportive
Housing and Home Modification of the University of
Southern California. Ms. Abdella has attended numerous
continuing education seminars in the field of aging.
For the past six years, Ms. Abdella has
been with the Area Agency on Aging District 7,
Inc. as
a PASSPORT (Medicaid Waiver) Case Manager, and then as
Supervisor of the National Family Caregiver Support
Program where she worked to assist with the
development and implementation of the program that now
assists over 500 caregivers in the agency's service
district.
The Area Agency on Aging District 7,
Inc. (AAA7) administers programs for older adults
funded by the state and federal governments. Federal
funds managed by the Administration on Aging and the
CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services), as
well as all state funds, are received through the Ohio
Department of Aging. The Agency contracts with
agencies and then channels funds through this network
of service providers. These agency providers include
senior centers, community action agencies, home health
agencies, health departments, etc.
