Starting January 1, 2006, prescription drug coverage
will be available to all people with Medicare. Learn
more about how seniors and people with disabilities
can take advantage of these new benefits. Staff from
the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will
have information available about the new Medicare
prescription drug coverage, extra help for people
with limited income and assets, retiree options arid
how beneficiaries can choose arid join a drug plan
that meets their needs.
Hear, too, about the Medicare Rx Outreach and
Education Project, a joint initiative of n4a and the
National Association of State Units on Aging (NASUA).
Learn about successes that were achieved in reaching
Medicare beneficiaries during the roll-out of the
Medicare Prescription Drug Discount Card Program in
2004. Presenters will describe collaborative efforts
and innovative strategies that you can replicate as
you organize outreach arid education activities on
the new benefit this year.

This is the sixth annual meeting of n4a's Rural
Aging Special Interest Group. This group meets
informally to discuss the needs and issues facing
our nation's rural elderly. Information and resource
sharing occurs, new initiatives across n4a's rural
area agencies are described, and advocacy activities
may be developed.
